Thirty-five is a very attractive age. London society is full of women of the very highest birth who have, of their own free choice, remained thirty-five for years. — Oscar Wilde

The world has lost a wonderful human.

Funeral Blues
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

— W.H. Auden

To Bruce, who really was a spectacular human. I will miss you every day, my friend.

LSG rocks

I need to move my blog, I’ll post here when I do. I moved out. Divorce in process. Never enough time to sleep.

Anyway I just saw this on LSG and had to post it, LOVE IT!

This is sick but it is KNITTING related and therefore PERTINENT.

Three women were in the waiting room of a gynaecologist, and each of them was knitting a sweater for their baby-to-be. The first one stopped and took a pill.
“What was that?” The others asked her.
“Oh, it was Vitamin C - I want my baby to be healthy.” A few minutes later, another woman took a pill.
“What was that?” the others asked.
“Oh, it was iron - I want my baby to be big and strong.” They continued knitting. Finally the third woman took a pill.
“What was that?” the others asked her.
“Thalidomide,” she said, “I just can’t do sleeves.”

I still need help

though I have no right to expect anyone to come help more, you have all been generous beyond comprehension… my mom is flying in on Sunday because I just can’t deal with all of this alone anymore.

Anyway there is a ton of crap all over the floors in every room here, and I need to get it sorted and taken over to the new place. Not much heavy lifting (maybe a couple of book boxes) so if anyone reads this and can come help, text me or pm me on rav. I don’t have internet and don’t really feel like talking much. If you can’t help that is absolutely fine, my mom will be flying in on Sunday at 6pm. She’s moved a time or two so she’s pretty good at figuring stuff out.

he’s gone.

Pfeffer got out and was hit by a car on 65th and died while I was at work. Though I was angry at what seemed to be another example of nobody paying attention, when I heard more about it, I think there isn’t a finger to point at anyone in particular. I think perhaps the wind blew a not-quite-closed gate open, and it was here at the old house, so nobody expected that (the movers didn’t go in the backyard at all).

Then last night I was trying to get more stuff to bring over (phone and internet don’t work) and a hat box fell off the shelf and struck the bridge of my nose and I nearly got knocked out. I’ve got two black eyes and a deep bruise along my nose and am swollen (how much from that and how much from crying I don’t know) but can’t be seen till maybe tomorrow. I don’t suppose it matters much anyway, not sure what anyone would do.
Pfeffer, my love
