Spinning and chairs
So I joined this new spinning list, which is apparently full of vitriolic people who think wool allergies are made up because we "princesses" need more attention... and apparently some think, no matter what my reassurances are that my dad is a master woodworker, that he can't make me anything more than a probably unbalanced spinning wheel.
Jealous, all of 'em.

Anyway, thanks to the very nice people in my life and on the internet who helped me figure out what kind of wheel I want, I will be sending details to Dad later, there are so many nice folks out there, I can afford to shrug off the mean ones. After all, we princesses have broad shoulders to hold our elegant gowns upon, and we can easily shrug these sorts of things off.
For those who wanted to see examples of my dad's beautiful woodworking skills, here is my pride and joy, my rocking chair:
He also has made me a chest
and a mantle clock (as I told my dd, 6, it is a real grandfather clock, although it's a mantle clock design, because her grandfather made it :-))
So I'm going to tell Dad I'd love a single drive wheel, double treadle, with scotch tension (is that right Daniel?) and I will figure out the correct terminology so I don't say "three places to put the drive band thingy so I can spin different weights of yarn"
Cut me some slack, I've been cleaning carpets and the dog for an hour. Don't ask, but I finally had to put the poor thing outside, she's like the energizer bunny of diarrhea...
