Nickwits

"I wish we *did* have money coming out of our ears, because then we could shake each other upside down and get rich."

Kudos, Jack Handy disciple

Here's Ben Franklin (not yet in costume) slaving over cardboard to make the world's best halloween accessories. Past projects have included a stradivarius fiddle, and pop-out buzz lightyear wings (yes, actual working ones)

stay tuned...costume photos next week

I just have to sew Ben Franklin's buttons on, figure out if I want to let Link borrow my brown leather boots, talk Belle into not wearing her icky messy hair wig and a turtleneck under her dress, and oh yeah, unless I want to attend a child's party as Lady Godiva (my favorite ancestor), I had better figure out how the BLEEP to make my BLEEPIN corset. How did women with hooters survive in mideval times? Sheesh.

Oh, and I'm out of fabric. AGAIN. And there's no more purple. BLEEP.

knitting with mom

Mom came to visit and here we are at knitting--in December it'll be one year since she taught me, and now I'm helping her, who knew? She's going to make pink mimosa... she's afraid to do the lace but she can do it--after all, she doesn't have children throwing things and fighting (well, dogs, maybe) while she knits...

SKB progress

oops, I did it again... (ok I've ripped it three times now...)

I'm going to put in a lifeline as Suzy and Wendy suggested... better now than not having one and needing it!

I think I just love the colors though...yummy silk!

looky

womb.

pretty and pink and all fallopian tubed and even cervixed out. Thanks, knitty!

This is for my IF cyberfriend who was just dx'ed with cancer. Only her IF sisters can understand how it's *still* hard to deal with the loss of the system. So here's a perfect pink little one, soft and cuddly, to replace it. :-) Because she's no less of a woman now.

my newly dyed now boy yarn

See Daniel? It's a boy!

dyedalpaca1.jpg

It didn't dye completely evenly. I hope it looks ok when I knit it up for dh. He might want rogue... but he's undecided. I think he thinks rogue would be ok. Oy!

I also overdyed a test strip of the sport weight wool my MIL gave me and it's a gorgeous darker blue--I think I will dye the entire bag, though varigation is calling me... I have sky blue (knitpicks acid dyes, used above on alpaca) and also sapphire, so I can play.

And *then* I have an entire EXTRA bag of the same stuff, worsted weight, and I tried kool-aid and then dharma procion dyeing that, but I still don't like it, it's dark teal. So hmm....
